Nowadays, the dairy aisle in most grocery stores has been taken over by the yogurt section. Yogurt contains abundant “good bacteria”.

So what are the health benefits of yogurt?

Human body needs to have a healthy amount of ''good'' bacteria in the digestive tract, and many yogurts are made using active, good bacteria. One of them is ''probiotics.''
Probiotic, which means ''for life,'' refers to living organisms causing a health benefit when eaten in adequate amounts. The probiotics are benefit for digestion and immune function
It’s worth noting that yogurt comes from milk. So when you eat yogurt you will also get a dose of animal protein (about 9 grams per 6-ounce serving), plus several other nutrients found in dairy foods, such as calcium, vitamin B-2, B-12, potassium, and magnesium.
Here are four possible health benefits of having a yogurt a day:
1.Yogurt May Help Prevent Osteoporosis
It’s important for prevention and treatment of osteoporosis to absorb adequate nutrition. The most vital micronutrients that have beneficial effects on bone mass in people of all ages are calcium and vitamin D. And intake of vitamin D for poeple is sufficiently high.
Many dairy products, including some yogurts, are made with added vitamin D.
2.Yogurt May Reduce the Risk of High Blood Pressur
According to recent study, people eating 2-3 servings of low-fat dairy a day could observe a 50% reduction in the risk of developing high blood pressure.
3.Yogurt are Beneficial for Gut
Yogurt with active cultures may help improving certain gastrointestinal conditions, such as lactose intolerance, constipation, diarrhea, colon cancer, inflammatory bowel disease and so on.
The reason is that yogurt has the ability to change the microflora of the gut and enhance the body’s immune system.
4.Yogurt May Help You Feel Fuller
University of Washington in Seattle conducted a research that focus on testing hunger, fullness, and calories eaten at the next meal on 16 men and 16 women. Each of them were given a 200-calorie snack. The snack was either:
A.Semisolid yogurt containing pieces of peach and eaten with a spoon
B.The same yogurt in drinkable form
C.A peach-flavored dairy beverage
D.Peach juice
The people who eat the yogurt snacks, at the next meal, did not intake fewer calories. However, the result showed that both types of yogurt lead to lower hunger ratings and higher fullness ratings compared with other snacks.
We should better make eating yogurt as a daily habit. The health benefits of yogurt is closely related with human health.
